Excellent and very Pratical guide.

I have been looking for a simple practical guide to saving money for 2016. I came across this book and I am really glad I did! This book lays out some great ideas for saving money as well as the potential savings. I had never considered getting rid of cable or my gym membership. This book points out the how and why without giving up everything. When I think of frugal living, I often get an idea of an older person that leaves all the lights off, I guess similar to Scrooge. However, this book shows how you can live frugal, but still enjoy the modern culture. Things such as only have Netflix, but not cable. So you can still watch your Once Upon a Time and keep up with the latest trends without paying an arm and a leg. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to cut back spending without cutting off living.

The author is a life saving genius! This is like having a cheat code when it comes with daily numbers and finance in our day-to-day lives. I read the tips and were so obvious that we don't realize how much money is taken out of our pockets in everything we do per year as for food. Considering that things get more expensive as time passes; this is a big impact on how much could be saved. For travel; just go for websites that offer refund if their competitors have the same reservation cheaper (rates and availability with other websites are changing from time to time). If you check the chart in the book; you will definitely stop smoking. Saving and at the same time, living healthy! Very satisfied and happy with this purchase.

EXTENSIVE!

I decided to give this a go after opening up the sample and seeing a multitude of things on the contents page. I enjoyed his style of writing, and it is clear, concise and writes in a personal manner.

It really is as described. He gives you far more than 30 strategies to save money around the house and gives you tips on practically everything you can do around the house right now to save money. The baking soda categories are quite extensive, many many free things you can do and coverage on how to garden.

I particularly liked his bring your own wine tasting event at home tip. Thats definitely one I'll be trying.

War is Hell

This is the second book that I have read that is written by Ernie Pyle. My comments pretty much remain the same. He spends the majority of the book in dealing with his conversations with the soldiers who fought the battles. In this book, he discusses his conversations with the soldiers by their job specialties (Infantry, Artillery, Aviation etc) and further breaks the discussions down by unit designation. It was a great idea to read about these discussions because I can relate to them as a retired veteran of 22 yrs (USA). He points out that besides getting shot at and possibly killed, that there were other aspects of the war that were not brought out in movies such as the fear and barbarism that combat can bring out in man. A veteran who has humped the ruck and slept in the mud of a foxhole can relate to these events. His comments on D Day + 2 can bring flashbacks to a vet who has seen death and the chaos that combat can create. Its not like those John Wayne/Chuck Norris movies with all the glory. He hits home and the manner in which he describes the battles he experienced are evidence that war is hell. In peace time, a son buries his father and in war time a father buries his son. Its sad to imagine how many of these veterans who returned home and had to endure the flash backs and post traumatic stresses of these horrific events.

How can one "rate" the greatest war journalist who ever lived?

How can anything written by Ernie Pyle rate anything but five stars? How could I possibly "rate" Ernie Pyle? The best compliment one could give to a war journalist is, "He's almost as good as Ernie Pyle." Bill Mauldin and Ernie Pyle, the last truly great war writers and commentators.
If you are even remotely interested in the heroes who saved the world from totalitarianism this is a must read and should be in your permanent library.

Epic Battle Scenes

As you might guess from the title, the bulk of this book is taken up with a huge battle that envelopes the city where all the various good guys, bad guys, wolves and dragons have wound up. With multiple points of view, deadly sieges, skirmishes beyond the walls, assassination attempts and political wrangling, there is always something going on. By the end of it all, the current threads are all tied up, but there is plenty of scope for the saga to continue.

Interesting story, if long and slow

Although I enjoyed the story, I found the pace terribly slow. As is common with books these days, it is a series and although this book sort of raps up the story from the previous three books (sections?), it really does not conclude the story. And, as is also common, there is considerable proofing and editing that was needed throughout the series. Even so bad as the author misnaming one of the wolves. Hope the wolf is more forgiving than I suspect. But, as I say, this sort of thing is so common today that one just has to try to overlook it.

These Winnie-The-Pooh CD are wonderful stories for your children and for the parents to enjoy as well. AA Milne had an amazing ability to capture characters. The Disney cartoons from yore were great, but the original text of Milne is even better. Humorous and clean and adventurous for small children, but also enough tongue-in-cheek character development to entertain the parents as well. There are probably many different recordings of this classic set, but I specifically recommend this recording, narrated by Alan Bennett.

Best Narration for the Beloved Bear

We had these books on tape several years ago for our older kids, so when we added a baby this year we knew that the cd's had to be found for him. We looked all over for them, and were so happy to finally find them on Amazon! Peter Dennis is the perfect narrator for the Pooh stories (the real Christopher Robin certainly agreed!), so even though we found the books on cd by other narrators before finding these, we chose to wait until the Peter Dennis set could be found. He does such a wonderful job on the voices of the characters, and he switches back and forth so naturally and smoothly that he makes listening to the books a true pleasure. Not only are the cds soothing and fun to listen to for the baby and for the kids, but they're also fun and nostalgic to listen to for the parents. They aren't annoying to listen to like a lot of other kid-oriented cds can be.

If you're looking to give your child some listening enjoyment that won't hype him or her up with too much craziness, and you love the classic beloved Pooh Bear, then these are for you!

Quite impossible to say a bad word about this delightful edition of the A A Milne classic The illustrations are almost as famous as the words which although written for your children have many messages for adults Winnie and all his friends ave their own distinct personalities and these are developed in this book and the following books .

Excellent history, underwhelming recipes/branding.

This book has some positive things going for it, from a very interesting and thorough history of vermouth to a beautiful layout and gorgeous photography. It's very nice to see this ingredient mulled over in-depth, and there are some very intriguing facts about the decline of vermouth in the US following WWII that I have not seen discussed elsewhere.

That being said, I am fairly disappointed with the blatant branding and focus on NY regional products that runs throughout the second half of the book. I get it, the author invested his time and energy into the Atsby vermouth line and loves the NY area, but this reads more like a list of sponsored recipes for his company/colleagues that you would find in promotional PR material or a paid ad than an honest look at the broad spectrum of vermouth cocktails. That's not to say that they have no place in a cocktail book, especially since the Atsby products are not necessarily interchangeable with other styles, but the sheer amount of times they are called for is overwhelming.

Overall, I'd rate this purchase as 2.5 stars. It is a mixed bag that has some great highlights, but I feel is ultimately a missed opportunity when it comes to providing an impartial take on vermouth, and I probably would not purchase it again.

Perfect for Boozehounds and History Buffs alike!

Adam Ford has crafted a solidly informative, interesting, and entertaining look into the history of a beverage much maligned in recent cocktail culture. From the book's very introduction, Ford puts the reader at ease and lets everyone know--loud and clear--that although vermouth may have a reputation as your grandmother's drink, sitting under a fine layer of dust in the back of an aging liquor cabinet, the history of the drink is both vibrant, multi-faceted, and will be told by Ford in a way that makes it approachable. I often found myself chuckling at Ford's quips and comments throughout the book. His writing style make it feel like you're sitting next to him at your local watering hole and easily guides the reader through the ancient history, modern American history, and even cocktail recipes in way that is seamless and seemingly effortless. While the read was easy, the information was dense and textured, and structured in a way that build logically and left me both satisfied and thirsty for more after finishing the book. Much like Heather Greene's "Whiskey, Distilled" and Robert Simonsson's history of the Old Fashioned cocktail, Vermouth crafts both a history and a set of approachable modern applications of a drink that takes the reader on an interconnected journey throughout human history as well as through modern culture. I didn't feel as if I only walked away with knowledge of vermouth, but of the cultures within which it has existed for centuries. Also worth mentioning is the absolutely stunning photography peppered throughout-If you doubt the vermouth can be sexy, the visuals alone here will prove you wrong!

Vermouth is perfectly timed to the modern resurgence of vermouth in cocktails around the country and deserves a spot on the bookshelf of any cocktail enthusiast, cultural historian, American history buff, or simply anyone who enjoys a good read over a stiff drink.

the author did a great job of drawing me in to what I previously ...

I initially got the book for a friend of mine who is way into vermouth and books (I’m not), but ended up keeping it for myself. Right from the start, the author did a great job of drawing me in to what I previously thought was a very un-sexy world of vermouth. First, the book is beautiful -- he obviously put a lot of thought and effort into the aesthetics – cover to cover with gorgeous photos throughout. Then he writes so passionately about his journey with vermouth, how he fell in love, and it kind of makes you want to love it too. It may be a little heavy on vermouth history for my taste, but if you’re interested in that sort of thing, he begins with vermouth in China thousands of years ago and brings you up to date. And for the drink lover/vermouth novice like myself, there are a ton of really interesting cocktail recipes that look delicious! I also found out the author created his own brand of vermouth. Now that’s serious! But if he put the same love and care into creating his vermouth as he did with his book about it, it’s probably worth more than a try.

Not being the best computer language this book was an excellent help. the author made this complicated subject an easy one for me to understand. Screenshots were even included. The instructions were clear and precise. This makes it a great recommendation for beginner programmers. This gives information about the overview of C#, it's programming feature and the environment. This guide is definitely on the top of my list. the information flowed effortlessly, giving you everything you need to understand C#. A crash course in programming!

Great book for beginners

I am getting interest in IT and I have been learning programming languages lately. Last week I was learning C++ and finally came across this book for my lessons in C#. The book is well designed for beginner and it gives a clear understanding of C#. I am enjoying every bit of the book and C# language. It is amazing coding using C# and the guidelines in the book are so helpful. I will recommend this book to any beginner who is interested in C# programming language

Great book on The C4, Not too technical or a Go To end all source,The photography is great and option information is good. I wish there would have been more Pictures and A Color Chart showing the different colors, There is Options discussed for each year and colors available for each year, The ZR-1 (1990-1995) should be Referred to As ZR-1 not ZR1(2009-),Also no Mention of There being 1983 Corvettes(Prototypes,Super Rare) and 1988-1989 Corvette Challenge cars,Other than that It is a Short but nonetheless great book.

More than I expected even though I have a lot of Corvette books! Excellent accuracy on specifications & facts.
Being a photographer I really enjoyed the great photography work & owning a C4 Corvette I could not recommend this book enough to anyone that likes Corvettes!

I can't believe how much information the author has about the c4 vettes every year, serial number, color and options for every year is well documented and the photography is fantastic. If you are a c4 fan this book is an absolute must have!
