Drawing on previously unstudied archives, letters, and documents as well as her experience as an Azerbaijani musician and educator, Huseynova shows how Azerbaijani musical development was not a product of Soviet cultural policies but rather grew from and reflected deep and complex cultural processes.

An absolute necessity!

In my opinion, every advanced physics text needs a solutions manual for students. It's a great educational tool. I downloaded the "QFT for the Gifted Amateur" solutions manual from the web, printed it out, and had it bound, but it was largely hand-written and cumbersome, with few explanatory notes. This Solutions Manual is a very reasonable price to pay for an absolute necessity. The solutions are as clear as the text itself. If you get the book, you must get this also. A no-brainer!

Finally a solution manual.

What can I say, it is the solution manual. It is the full solution manual, except for the problems he asks you to make wholeness charts' like in his book. Let's face it OFT is a grad. level course. If you are reading this book you must have a real interest in physic's. You can try the problem's then see if your answers are correct. The price is small in comparison to the price of the book. Had I had this book and solution manual when I took this course, it would have saved me hour's. I give the Author high mark's, for including it. This book almost teaches you without the need for a teacher, but without a teacher how do you know you go the problems right. Even better if you have the time to do every problem and know you got the right answer, you are better off.

Helpful insights for every career women; a must read

I have to admit, I did not have much of an expectation regarding this book. I picked it up at the bookstore to leaf through out of curiosity since I regularly watch the morning show she's on , and at times not really understanding the role she plays. What a surprise this book turned out to be!I could not put it down and ended up buying it and now buying many copies for my friends, mentorees and daughter in laws. I have spent the past 35 years , some would say very successfully, working myself up the corporate ladder, ending up as president of business units and companies. I experienced what she and her contributors have described in this book and I wish I had a book like this to read to 1) understand why I was behaving and feeling like I did, 2) why I let bosses and companies take advantage of me 3)understand better how to get for myself what I deserved....and overall to know I was not alone in this situation.
I think this book is a great resource for every woman, and especially relevant for young women starting out on the corporate ladder, especially when there is so much "fluff" is written on career advice. I admire Mika B's honesty, and her access to prominent women is really helpful in that, their stories may provide the motivation for some women to act on the advice given in this book.

Disappointing and dampening

As a regular Morning Joe watcher, I'm a fan of Mika's and was excited to see what advice her wealth of respected experience would yield for this book. I was so disappointed to find that rather than using her pages to uplift women, she basically aired and re-aired her job grievances over and over again in an ineffective and largely uninteresting read. The book was unfocused and meandering. What I'd hoped would be more of a guidebook for how to determine and get what you're worth was actually a pretty defeatist smattering of high-powered women and their complaints about how men are paid more. Mika didn't actually get to how this is changing every day or give concrete advice for how you move past what roadblocks you may face as a woman in the workplace. An unfortunate use of her visibility as a highly successful woman.

Title misleading, but good tips for women seeking better pay in corporate America

When I first saw this audiobook, I only saw the title Knowing Your Value in gigantic, capitalized, bold letters. I didn't see the small letters of the subtitle: Women, Money, and Getting What You're Worth. I was misled into thinking that the audiobook was about knowing your value in general. So I must warn readers that this audiobook is not about that, it's about how women can ask for higher pay in corporate America.

Mika Brzezinski has done her homework. She's talked to major female players such as Tina Brown, Nora Ephron, Suze Orman and Arianna Huffington. She shares their advice along with her own. The main narrative is her own story of struggling for years in broadcast journalism until she landed her co-host position on the MSNBC hit show Morning Joe. Even after that milestone, she was still overworked and underpaid. As co-host she worked fulltime on the show, but the network still made her do other freelance assignments and nightly shifts, while knowing she was a working mother and paying the other male host fourteen times her salary.

Brzezinski shares informative facts and figures. For instance, women tend to think they're lucky when they get a break, ask for less pay (they make 77 cents for every dollar a man makes) and generally operate on emotion and approval (one woman told Brzezinski how she received a pair of nice earrings and plenty of praise for her hard work instead of a raise or promotion). Women also tend to do most of the housework, take care of the family and elders even if they are the breadwinner, and shy away from demanding what they want or need. Besides giving the lay of the land on the gender wage gap issue, Brzezinski gives concrete tips and strategies for how to ask for more pay. For instance, before requesting a raise, hand your boss a single page of all your accomplishments and research what others in your position are earning.

Though the audiobook is informative on a timely topic, it falls short on many fronts. Besides the misleading title, the writing is too simplistic and the same concepts are repeated as if the speaker had momentary amnesia and forgot what she just said. The biggest trouble I had with the audiobook was its reader, Coleen Marlo, who sounded robotic and contrived, similar to a voice on a commercial, nothing like the voice of the author. Ultimately, Marlo's voice didn't come across as sincere (perhaps because her voice and the author's are so different). Since this is Brzezinski's personal story, I found that glitch to be a serious problem. I'm not sure why the author didn't narrate her own book. Brzezinski qualifies as a professional speaker herself.

Still, despite the audiobook's flaws, Brzezinski's cause of equal pay and the gender wage gap is of utmost importance, and one that working women should flag. Such women will find value in the author's words. Perhaps they should opt for her book instead.

Weems' son was pointlessly killed "less than an hour after his twenty-first birthday." Her grief has not left her since. She released much of it, however, in these 50 poems. Modeled upon the Psalms of the Bible, they all share the same "plot line" --beginning in painful petition, proceeding through anger and helplessness, and concluding in trust in the Lord who brings all hope. They are repetitious in their tropes as well. The lines of each are centered on the page, thereby resonantly recalling the shaped poems of the English sacred poet George Herbert (the most famous are "Easter Wings" and "The Altar" ). Weems' poems are not as great as Herbert's, but virtually anyone of religious faith who has lost a loved one, especially "before their time," will find fellowship, ministry, and healing in them. of great benefit to grieving parents

all i can tell you of this book is my mother credits a large percentage of her still being on this planet after the death of her 16 year old daughter in a car accident to the insights in this book of poetry--it is a series of poems about the loss of her son, mostly written as appeals to god, and it certainly brings the reader face to face with their anger and sadness, so they can move on and face the future with a little less hopelessness.

This book is terrific for anyone stuggling with the tragides of life, espechally sudden death or serious or chronic illness. It is plea to God for help, understanding and solice for those burdened by the unfairness that is life. It has been a source of comfort to read these each night. Sad as they, are they are cathartic

Psalms of Lament

When my son was killed in an auto/pedestrian accident two years ago, I read books that were given to me, books that were recommended by therapists, and books that I randomly bought in search of any source of solace. Ann Weem's "Psalms of Lament" spoke the words my heart has been crying. Especially Lament Psalm Forty-Nine. Like Ann and Rachel, I will never be comforted; until God wipes the tears from my eyes.

I refuse to believe it's over

I don't think I'm ready to say goodbye to this phenomenal series. A few years ago, fresh after getting my first Kindle (which was a big deal for an English language reader not living in an English speaking country) I randomly chose "Johannes Cabal: The Necromancer" as my next read. Oh boy, I was in for a ride. The adventures of a necromancer of some little infamy quickly became on of my favourite book series ever. A series which is now coming to a close (at least for the time being, as the author claims).

The fifth and final (?) book doesn't make this farewell easy - it might be the best in the series. It has everything that drawn me to Cabal's world in the first place, and much more. It's hilarious, well paced and action packed, with great dialogue and fantastic characters (can I get a Zarenyia spin-off series, pleaaase?). It's relentless, endless fun, and for that alone I encourage everyone to grab a copy. However, what really elevates the series for me is how well the author constructed our (anti?)hero Johannes Cabal, and how he lets him evolve. Creating a character that never fails to deliver laughs is one thing, but giving him depth displayed so naturally, in a way that never seems forced is a real accomplishment. Bravo, Mr. Howard!

So, my life of a reader will feel a bit emptier now that I have no Cabal novel to wait for (I am hoping for some short stories in the coming months, though). Nevertheless, I am grateful to Mr. Howard for sharing this five part awesomeness with us, excited about his other, future works and hoping that someday Cabal will return.

**Spoilers**The Cabal series is (in my opinion) one of the best fantasy series of the last decade. But this book fell short of the rest in this series for me. I feel like it got bogged down in its own style, and I ended up skipping half of it on my first read through and still understood the last chapter just fine. I thought Horst's characterization was a bit odd, I had never thought of him as an idiot before but this book took every opportunity it could to say "Oh yes, by the way, Horst is dumb". I get that he's in the company of Leonie and Johannes, but I always enjoyed how Horst was people-smart while Johannes was book-smart.

And I was really let down by the Red Queen, especially considering how much she was built up in the previous book. I was expecting an actual nemesis for Johannes, someone who could really challenge him, and even win in the end. It just left me going "eh" at the end.

I would still recommend this series to anyone who loves fantasy, the other books are still great enough to make it worth the time. And even this one had some great sections, I just don't think it's as good as the rest of the series.

Fair Warning: This review will include major spoilers for the previous four Johannes Cabal books, as well as several of the short stories. If you haven’t read any of the previous books, you really should stop now and click HERE.

Now, on with the show.

If H.P. Lovecraft and Douglas Adams had a lovechild, that gibbering lunatic is surely Jonathan L. Howard. Howard (who does borrow from the Lovecraft mythos) uses a sense of cosmic horror, peppered liberally with dry ridiculousness and wry humor to create something truly unique and fantastic. We are speaking here of Johannes Cabal.

Readers of the previous books will know Johannes Cabal as a necromancer, formerly also the ringmaster of an infernal circus, foiler of despotic maniacs, wanderer of Dreamlands, and foiler of despotic maniacs’ daughters. He is the kind of cold-blooded analytical soul who makes Sherlock Holmes (and also Professor Moriarty) look like puppy hugging imbeciles in comparison.

This fifth book finds Cabal hot on the trail of his ultimate goal: a cure for death. Clues left behind by an old defeated enemy point to a metaphysical path which leads (theoretically) to the fountain of youth. Cabal, never one to be turned from his goal once his mind is set, must recruit the help of his vampire brother, Horst, along with what allies he may call upon (you’d be right in guessing that the list is not long) to tread this path and finally achieve his heart’s desire.

I am (obviously) a fan of Howard’s previous Johannes Cabal stories, and have been waiting quite (im)patiently for this one to come out. I’m pleased to say that I was not disappointed. Howard brings back a few beloved characters from previous books, and it is always delightful to watch the misanthropic Cabal navigate the world of human social interaction.

So bottom line: if you’re a fan of the series, you’ll be quite pleased with the latest book, and should begin reading immediately. If you’e never heard of the series, you really shouldn’t have read this far. But as you are reading this, you should go get the first book in the series: Johannes Cabal the Necromancer, and begin reading immediately.

Objective and Logical book

This is the second edition of the book, that seems to incorporate complementary ideas to the first edition.

I really liked it, since it gives very detailed explanation of how anticipating where the market may react in your favor and positioning there before price hits that price, can give you an edge of entering with a small risk, that is part of a good capital preservation defensive plan of trading. I bought the book since I use that kind of trading and also I was able to view inside the book and noticed that it uses very few technical indicators, which are late in giving you signals and expose you to bigger loses than if you anticipate price turns with very tight stop loss.

By the way, in order to enjoy the book, you can go to his website and there you will find all the charts of the book, something that I discovered early when I read the last pages and noticed that.

The author uses a couple of indicators that he sells for a very low price in his website also, but they work only for Tradestation. One of the indicators is based on price, to give you an idea of overbought and oversold conditions. The other is related to the use of market internals and how he interprets that information to determine if the market is trending or ranging. In my opinion, if you have access to market internals, it is not necessary to use this indicator, once you understand the concept of what he does, but as an Engineer that he is, he has devised a clever way to let the chart tell you what condition the market is, without major doubt.

The author has made a big effort to explain with great detail his price patterns and setups, but it will take some time to digest all the information contained in the book, that for me is the book I would have liked to have available in my early years of looking for the Holy Grail, since I started as most.. using technical indicators to evolve now to use none and base my trading in anticipating levels of reaction and watching how the market behaves there.

It is a good book, once you clean your charts and start looking for what he teaches, you will start finding low risk points of entry in your charts, with the potential of catching some runners.

Critical Insights into Trading E-Mini Futures Contracts

Though I have been an investor / swing trader in stocks and options over the last 10+ years, I recently left the corporate world and am attempting to day-trade futures full time as my primary source of income. I am completely new to trading in the futures markets and have been recently investigating different futures philosophies and trading systems available. I was baffled by much of what I read in books others had recommended I read (I was unable to take what I had read and put it into action). Further, I was not trusting of much of what I found on the internet to be over-hyped systems promising almost guaranteed fortunes. But, I then stumbled onto Mr. Gutmann's book on a search on Amazon and was really glad I did. Mr. Gutmann's system is one of taking what information the market is providing to you on a daily basis in combination with other key indicators and price levels and anticipating market moves by identifying pattern set-ups resulting in high probability trades. Also very key is the chapter on trade management which provides great insights on fading out of a multi-contract position to move to a no-loss position in the hopes of letting a winner run. I have been very pleased with this book providing a framework approach to trading the Futures Markets and the ability I am gaining in understanding the "auction process" and how to interpret what the market is signaling to you (and knowing where to look and what to look for to get those signals).

Mr. Gutmann also offers his technical indicators to you for a mere $200 that you can run in Tradestation that are key to visualizing the key price levels and market internals to trade with that are emphasized in the book. Once I purchased the indicators, Mr. Gutmann put me on his email list and sends out multiple emails each week in which he shares what trades he has made during the day / week and to re-emphasize much of the setups in the book (FYI, inter-market divergences are just one of the many key things you will learn to keep an eye on - but you'll have to read the book to understand the leaders and followers). When I bought the indicators I was new to Tradestation and had some issues in setup, Mr. Gutmann responded expeditiously after I sent an email to him and he called me right away and walked me through the setup. I find Mr. Gutmann to be a very solid ethical and conscientious individual who is dedicated to sharing his ever-evolving knowledge in trading the E-Mini markets and I value his knowledge/experience very much. Mr. Gutmann is a real futures day-trader doing it for a living and uses what he shares in his book. I believe you will get a lot out of this book, no matter your knowledge level. I have recommended it to my trading friends.

Insightful and informative for more advanced traders

I found this book to be one of the best I've read on an advanced technique used to trade the e-mini index futures. Mr. Gutmann has written a very complete description of his methodologies, and the theories and principals that support them. Beyond just publishing the book, he also sends occasional supporting emails, and makes the customized indicators for Tradestation available at very little cost.

The discussion on Market Profile theory is the best application I've seen on that topic. Combined with the use of Cumulative Ticks and other market views, Gutmann presents a complete approach that can be applied directly or used by traders to improve their own systems.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to day trade the e-minis. The title is a bit long ;-) , but the content is extremely helpful.
