A fun, easy to use, and indispensable guide to the food of the stars: The Star Trek Cookbook!
Is there one food that humans, Klingons, Bajorans, and Vulcans would like? If so, what would it taste like? How would you prepare it? Could you find all the ingredients locally?
This is the task that faces Neelix, chef for the U.S.S. Voyager™, every time he takes on the challenge of trying to feed its crew of 140 food critics. But over the course of their journey, Neelix's learned a few tricks of the trade. He had to, just as a matter of self-preservation.
Ethan Phillips, in the persona of Neelix, and William J. Birnes, the New York Times bestselling coauthor of The Day After Roswell, throw wide the vaults of interstellar haute cuisine, revealing for the first time the secret preparation techniques behind all those exotic dishes and drinks. The favorite foods of characters from every Star Trek series and movie are here, all adapted for easy use in twentieth-century kitchens. The Star Trek Cookbook also features a complete guide for whipping up the all the drinks served at Quark's.

Awesome book for the Trekkie Foodie!
By Anthony
This book is both an awesome novelty for the hardcore Star Trek fan, as well as a perfectly functional cookbook. Ethan Phillips (as Chef Neelix) provides entertaining descriptions of the various dishes and the characters you have seen enjoying them. There are even personal recipies from the actors themselves, and other cool tidbits from on-set anecdotes to info about the prop dishes used for TV. Not all of the alien dishes are intended to turn out looking exactly like the food props used on the television series, since some of the dishes included inedible (and unpalatable) items. Rather, many are traditional Earth dishes with Star Trek names, while others have been "invented" to simulate the look and live up to the dishes' names given on the different shows. The Star Trek Cookbook even goes the extra mile and includes a recipe for cat food used by Commander Data for his cat Spot! Clearly, much familiarity with the episodes and research was done. However, the recipes for simulating the otherworldly beverages found at Quark's bar are mostly just for looks, rather than taste- they don't even contain alcohol! But there are several real drinks in the book as well.
The aesthetic is this cookbook is also well-done. The outer cover is very eye-catching, and the inside nicely combines pinkish-brown monochrome accents with actual b&w photos from the various shows in the Star Trek series, from Captain Kirk to Captain Janeway. The table of contents lists recipes by character and series, starting with Voyager, but otherwise in order. While I have seen some nasty bad reviews of this book on Amazon, those commenters are clearly mean-spirited or mistaken regarding subject matter to which they're referring. As a lifelong Trekkie and avid foodie, I can honestly say that I got a real kick out of this product, and would highly recommend it to, well, just what this review's title says!

"Earl Grey. Hot"
By Kent P. Thalacker
It's cookbook. A valuable reference for Trekkies and what the cast members ate. While still in character Neelix offers recipes as if the cast members are still being served today. Try the 'Terran Pasta with Clam Sauce" prepared for Harry. Or, perhaps some Vulcan Mocha Ice Cream for Harry. Interested in Seven of Nine's first meal on Voyager? Try 'Chadre Kab ala Neelix. Sit down with CPT Picard to a dish of Petrokian Sausage and Klingon Blood Sausage. Will I try some of the recipes? More than likely. What I like about it is the tidbits of information about the series and the stars. I would recommend this book to all my Trekkies who love to cook and want to host or be a party to round robin dinner parties munching down on Star Trek fare. As for finding anything I did not like in the book, I have given up looking. I highly recommend this book and my most favorite character/star/author, Ethan Neelix Philips.

Not just Voyager!
By Kevin R
I bought this book mainly as a joke present to a friend who was a big Trekky but hated Neelix. I have to say, after we got it, we were pleasantly surprised at how many recipes and characters make an appearance. It's a BIG book chock-full of real recipes named after Star Trek dishes and themes. It is also not limited just to Voyager, but contains recipes related to most characters from most Star Trek series, including TNG and DS9.
If you like cooking and Star Trek, I really recommend it!
